Got two of these for different reasons on different computers. We have two laptops that didn't come with Bluetooth hardware from the factory. One an HP (AMD A10), and the other a Gateway (Intel i3). Both laptops are running Windows 10 Home.Installation was very easy. Popped the Mini CD into the DVD drive, and installed the software. The amount of space required for this software is about 220 MB. There is no bloatware that I am aware of. Shut down the laptop. Plugged the dongle into a USB port, and powered it up. Showed up in Device Manager without a hitch, and included an icon in the system tray to open the application. The application allows you to turn Bluetooth on and off, check Bluetooth status, pair with a Bluetooth device, display your paired devices, and get to your Bluetooth preferences. It is slick (compliment intended).The functionality we were looking for is:1) My wife wanted to listen to music, without the limitation of a cord. Her HP notebook needed the Bluetooth dongle to stream music to her Bluetooth headphones. Using the Bluetooth application was easy, and I was more unfamiliar with the way the headphones paired to the laptop. It took about 2 minutes, and she has her Bluetooth music listening experience now. I can attest that the music streaming function works well with this dongle. Pairing is also easy.2) I regularly download a podcast to the Gateway, and have used a USB cable to transfer the program to, and listen to it on my LG Android phone (V. 6). Using the Bluetooth dongle, I was able to pair phone with laptop, easily. I used the 'send to' feature of Windows 10 to get the podcast to the phone. I have sent pictures from the phone to the laptop. I can attest to the file transfer function working with this dongle. Note: the speed of transfer from the laptop to the phone is slower than with USB.We haven't had these dongles that long, but they are working. And we haven't used many of the profiles that the dongle's software and Windows 10 supports. Yes, we would recommend them to whoever needs Bluetooth functionality.
